malarchi replied to your post: Are you still writing that essay on white guilt in film? Because I just watched this and it raises some brilliant points that are a bit of a stretch but are pretty interesting and also funny. http://www.cracked.com/video_18203_why-back-to-future-secretly-horrifying.html
Hahah yeh I did, that was really good too. 99% strippers. Well, books are cool too, I GUESS! Hope it goes well anyways.Hey I used some Chuck Palahniuk to explain the American obsession with imagining their own destruction. He wrote about it a bit in his non-fiction essay ‘monkey think, monkey do’. Like he had a theory that Stephen King invented school shootings by simply imagining them into existence and giving kids the idea. And apparently the government hired loads of filmmakers to thinktank all the ways terrorists could hurt America. I can’t tell where the line is between fact and urban myth with Palahniuk’s work.
Oh cool I haven’t heard of that one, it sounds good I’ll try to find it. Need to get the latest book as well still. Heh yeh I think that’s one of the things I like the most about his work. In Non-Fiction he talks about a little book he has where he writes down all these ideas he gets from seeing real stuff, and then he incorporates all that into his stories. I still love hearing about journalists who ring him up asking him to get them into fight club.
